Arnold Schmidt is one of the youngest artists living at the Haus der Künstler (Artists’ House) at the Klosterneuburg Hospital, which is a domicile where patients who show significant artistic talent live very independently and focus on their creative work. He has been living in the Haus since 1986.
In his painting, Schmidt often concentrates on figural work, making immediate and vigorous paintings of the human form. His figures are shown in a frontal view, directly facing the viewer. He often mixes his paint on the canvas, resulting in vivid, clear colors.
