Anne Grgich, known for her complex mixed media and collage technique, has been creating art since her teenage years. Her work has been a sustaining force in her life, through experiences such as joining and retreating from a cult, and an abusive marriage. Grgich moved to Seattle in 1987 and has been shown extensively in the Pacific Northwest and throughout the United States.
In Grgich’s pieces, a psychological intensity is found in her heavily worked surfaces, built up from layer upon layer of fragmented, obscured images that coalesce into a compositional whole. In addition to her own work, she gives classes in art making and maintains an online message group about self-taught art.
